PageTurner: The Comic's 7th Tenet
We wouldn't be much in the way of leaders if we didn't lead by example, right? So when publishing our first work, we had to make our own tenet and outline what it means to us as well. Our Tenet is actually pretty simple, and one that I think many people neglect to follow in their quest for fame;
Show Thanks to Every Source of Inspiration.
No one ever wants to give thanks for anything unless it benefits them. I believe deep within myself that this is completely and wholly wrong. From the very beginning, we intend to give thanks and show our support to EVERYONE that helps us along the way, be it companies, organizations, groups, and even people. We'll be doing it in various ways. Perhaps you've noticed the (CC) links around the page? Maybe one even led you here. This Clearest Clarity symbol will take you to a page explaining our entire relationship with the given entity, from a review of the product or service to whether or not they pay us to speak.
GREEN links denote that we love the company or product for some reason and simply link them because we want them to do well.
Yellow links indicate that while we may love their business practices or their product, something else about them doesn't quite sit well with us.
Red links indicate that the company is so against what we believe in that we can't abide by their practices.
Blue links indicate we're being paid by this entity, so take what we say about them with a grain of salt. Keeping you all informed about who is paying our bills falls into our idea of Clearest Clarity.
This is how we will give thanks to the companies we love. Next, we intend to do full reviews on comics, manga, video games, movies, shows and books we love and link you to places where you can support these artists. Don't expect it all to be indie, but don't expect it all to be mainstream, either. Whether or not they choose to pay us for web traffic after-the-fact will be documented, and no one will ever gain precedence over other submitted works by paying us off, either; we do this because we love it.
Lastly, we'll be showing our thanks to our friends, family and community by dedicating this work to them. Each and every character in PageTurner: The Comic is based on someone I've known in my life. Their backgrounds, attitudes, powers, abilities, even familiars are based on what I know about them as people, and the success or failure of this work is firmly rooted in how amazing they are as people. Therefore, in order to give them thanks, a portion of all merchandise sales based on characters shall be appointed to that character's inspiration, with another equal portion appointed to a charity of that person's choosing. This way, you're not only ACTUALLY supporting this person in the real world, helping them achieve their dreams, but you're also helping them change the world the way they would if they could.
